Histories in Flux
(Re-)Imagining Histories of Education Across Scales, Borders and Boundaries
5th edition of the annual Histories of Education Summer School in Leuven, Belgium
This year’s theme, Histories in Flux. (Re-)Imagining Histories of Education Across Scales, Borders and Boundaries invites participants to reflect on the theoretical and methodological choices involved in defining the scales and borders of our (historical) analysis, on the politics of spatial framing, and on the epistemological implications of ‘drawing boundaries’ within historical studies in education. In doing so, our Summer School encourages participants not only to examine how educational phenomena travel, transform and acquire meaning across diverse geographical contexts and historical periods, but also to consider how shifting the scale or extending the boundaries of our historical inquiry may reshape our understanding of the educational past.
