CFP The Time of Teachers | Le Temps des Professeurs | El Tiempo de los Maestros. Deadline: Jul. 2, 2017

The Centre for Research and Intervention in Education (CIIE), hosted by the Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences of the University of Porto, is organising a Conference entitled The Time of Teachers (O Tempo dos Professores / Le Temps des Professeurs / El Tiempo de los Maestros), devoted to studies on teacher education and professional development, that will be held in Porto between 28th and 30th September 2017. The Conference intends to deepen the debate on education, professional development and the social role played by teachers today in light of the history of different paths, trends, policies and practices that have shaped the (globalised) field of education. The Conference also aims to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the publication of António Nóvoa’s doctoral thesis (Le Temps des Professeurs. 2 vols., Lisbon: INIC, 1987), the 30th anniversary of the teacher training programmes at the University of Porto (1987/1988), and the 100th anniversary of the birth of Óscar Lopes (1917-2013), a Lyceum teacher (1941-1974), a researcher on the history of Portuguese Literature and Linguistics, opponent to Salazar’s authoritarian regime and, from the Portuguese Carnation Revolution (1974.04.25) onwards, Full Professor of the Faculty of Letters (Arts and Humanities) of the University of Porto.

We are pleased to inform that the keynote speakers at the Conference are Professors Rebecca Rogers (U. Paris V), Luiza Cortesão (U. Porto), José Alberto Correia (U. Porto) and António Nóvoa (U. Lisboa).

The Conference sessions will be organized around the following four themes

The proposal of individual papers or posters (proposals should be a maximum of 250 words excluding bibliography and four key-words) may be presented in any of the four official languages of the Conference – Castilian/Spanish, English, French and Portuguese – and addressed to the Conference’s themes.
